What is Kalik?
The name “Kalik” is directly linked to Bahamas’ history and culture. Webster’s dictionary defines History as a branch of knowledge that records and explains past events and experiences. The word culture is defined as the integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, experiences and behavior that depends upon man’s capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generation. The name Kalik comes from the distinctive sound made by cow bells used as instruments during the colorful “Junkanoo” parade – the Bahamian festival combining colorful hand-made costumes and Afro-Caribbean music and dance. The name Kailik is a part of our history, culture and our experience.
KAFE KALIK is unlike a typical themed restaurant and bar. It will provide a unique forum for Bahamian culture through its food, drinks and entertainment while expressing the history and culture of the islands. KAFE KALIK is the answer to an increasing demand. The public wants: (1) the ability to sample the food and drinks of the Bahamas (2) the feeling of the Bahamas in such a way that they are not socially, economically, or politically isolated. KAFE KALIK’s goal is to provide the community with a social and culturally entertaining environment that will allow our customers to explore the wonders of the Bahamas (in both their hearts and minds).
